J!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited for you to be Dr. Facilier!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to Fanime as him! *fangirl flail* Elisia has a good point, I back her on the facial hair idea :3
Adam: That gun is ridiculously huge already. It'll be funny to see one even more oversized, and I'm very curious to see how you're going to pull it off with cloth. Please post picture updates! ;D Not only do we get to see progress on it, but maybe it'll motivate me to finally starting my cosplay stuff too T 3T
Speaking of which, I believe Elisia already asked, what con are we wearing the Fifth Element cosplays to first? I like to set deadlines for myself so I gotta buckle down and figure out what I need and by when :] Are we all even going to the same cons this year? Goodness, I hope so.

You are laughing at our multiple coffee makers, aren't you. Everyone in the office is an addict. Or is it the fact that I look like a little kid?

No. It's the giant handgun.

Are you sure? It's just your average, run of the mill, every day comically over sized handgun. I was thinking about writing "Caution: For Boss Battles Only!" down the side of the barrel.

alright! New sculpture tonight! I wanted to do one each night, but I have not been getting home before 2 this last week, so that went right out the window. I did one tonight though! I decided to try making an old man, and specifically to try to do lips and eyelids. I should probably do something that's not a head next time, but I am just fascinated with the shapes in people's faces and heads. Also, I need to look at a reference photo next time. I feel like I got the wrinkles all wrong. Attachments:

Looking good! But don't forget, we have lower eyelids too! It's pretty rare to see a lot of white above or below the iris on an otherwise neutral expression like this.
Also, many wrinkles form along expression lines so if you want an idea of what direction or shape they should be look in the mirror and smile widely, observe the crease that forms on your cheeks (usually leading to your nose.) Or furrow your brow, or wink one eye, frown dramatically. It will be subtle because you are young but they work sort of like ripples in the water so if you can identify where a few base wrinkles are then you can guess where more will form using those as a guide.

Ok, everybody, but especially chris, check this site out. volpinprops.blogspot.com/The guy makes some AMAZING props, and we need to gain his power by eating his brain reading his website and studying his technique.

I am trying to decide what to use for the core of the giant S&W 500. My first inclination is to use wood, but that makes the gun way less huggable. And I want people to snuggle with my gun! Hehehe, that sounds inappropriate. But I'm worried that if I make it soft, the very long barrel will droop, and that leads to a whole different kind of inappropriate comments.
So I will probably need a core of some kind, but it has to be light since I will be carrying it all day, but also strong enough to stand up to convention madness.
But if I did do a wooden frame, I could make myself a sort of handle within a handle, and have a way to stick my hand in through the back of the handle and aim it like a regular gun, which would look funny/awesome, as demonstrated in the photo below.
I am starting to notice that every time I do a reference photo like this, the gun gets bigger....

That sounds like the most viable solution. Build yourself a wooden frame, and build foam around it.

Ok, plans are nailed down for the hand cannon pillow, now it's time to go buy some wood! I'm pretty excited to finally be physically working on a project instead of just thinking about it.
On a side note, I had a dream last night were I had a whole room dedicated to my costume projects. one wall was just clear plastic bins full of random stuff for making costumes, and a big table that would go up and down with a crank. I will create this table once I have a room to put it in. I have decided.

Spent the evening discussing the possibility of a borderlands cosplay for PAX 2012. Mmmm, it feels good to talk cosplay! I'm totally going to be Dr. Zed.

Ok, so tonight I actually spent playing Borderlands, instead of working on costumes. at one point, I was like "I should go buy the wood for my redfield gun!" and then I saw that the hardware store was closing in 8 minutes, and went back to playing. Ah, self defeat. You are a bitter mistress.
