chimarah: I've tried the makeup route, but the problem is that that kind of make up is made for wearing for an hour or two at best, and will start to rub off if you try to wear it all day. That means reapplications, and constantly worrying about people running up to give you hugs and rubbing off the makeup. Plus, shirtless or not, Zoro is almost always wearing a haramaki, which is the green thing around his waist. And that rubs. Nawww, I really think that self inflicted wounds are the way to go!

Elisia: Thank you, and I would love if you would teach me what you can! Our Leeloo is actually Sarah, and she makes an AMAZING (and super hot!) Leeloo, she was actually the inspiration behind making the other costumes. But I think you should totally do Aknot. It would be a great way to learn the skills you need for making a super mutant while working on a more manageable scale, since I am guessing you are going to make the super mutant very large. I think we should bring our totally amazing Fifth Element cosplays to Comicon next year.... Attachments:

Adam - Wow, she looks great!! I think though, Aknot might be more than I can handle for quite a while, which is why I thought about it more and considered Plava Laguna. Still tricky, but more within my means, I guess. Not too many females in that movie, hahaha.

I really think that Plava Laguna would be way harder than Aknot. If you watch the movie closely, they couldn't even keep the costume together for the film. The WHOLE COSTUME is latex that needs to be applied. Aknot could be a standard costume with an entire fake head that could be taken on and off, making it much more comfortable for a day of con walking.

On a side note, I just bought Fifth Element on blue ray if you want me to take any screen shots for references. ;D

Well, I don't know. If I did Aknot, I wouldn't want to use a mask, but rather latex and make up, to actually get some range of expression. And that wouldn't be easy to take on and off. Even a latex mask would be tricky. There's also the fact that his face would be really difficult and time consuming to sculpt and paint, with lots of details and small bits that I wouldn't want to do until I had quite a bit of experience with latex. I think it's be neat to do someday, but I want a LOT more practice under my belt before I even attempt it.
I was considering, instead of using latex for Plava Laguna's outfit, looking around and seeing if I can find some lightly shimmering material that would make the look and color well enough to get away with it. Even if the latex was feasible, I wouldn't want to wear it at all because of the heat.
It's all still in the considering stage, though! Do you have any other ideas of costumes I could try from the movie?

Hmm, I'll go through it tonight and see if I can find any costumes that I think would be fun for you. I guess that means I will have to watch Fifth Element again. Sigh.

chimarah - Nice, I remember her! I don't have the body to pull that off at the moment though, hahaha. I'd look much better playing Major Iceborg. I actually really like her outfit!
