Spent some time working with Kevin on the vacuform machine. We are mostly just conceptualizing right now until I move to a new place where I can set it up, but I am really excited about how it's coming together! I'll be putting up step by step photos of our process once we start construction.

On my way to APE, the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco! It's a branch of Comicon, focusing totally on alternative press, such as web comics. I'm really excited!

So I have not had much of a chance to sit down and write out my APE experience, things have been crazy since I got back. I will soon though. probably monday. If you are wondering why I haven't posted much in the way of cosplay lately, it's because I haven't had time to work on any. SOON! I swear!

A suggestion: why not simply do a quick audioblog of yourself talking through your experiences?

Maybe, but naw, I talk enough already. Ok, so about two weeks ago, I went to APE, which is a small, independent comic book convention that happens in San Francisco. www.comic-con.org/ape/It's sort of like an Artist's Alley, like you would find at Anime Expo or Fanime, but it's all artists selling their original work; there is very little fan art. What's cool about it is that since it is so small, you get to actually meet people who create the things you enjoy. For example, the author of harkavagrant.com/ was there, just hanging out and talking to people. Tim Schafer was also there (The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, and BrĂ¼tal Legend), but I didn't run into him. Over the course of the day they had some workshops and panels on comics and what not, but the one that stood out for me was called "Adventures in character design." I went to it just hoping to learn a few things about character design, but was surprised to find that the title was a play on the fact that it was being hosted by the lead designer for "Adventure Time," which is a series I love on Cartoon Network. That night, we went to Isotope ( isotopecomics.com/) where there was a party and enjoyed a few drinks while chatting with nerds and reading comic books, and it was awesome. There is something wonderful about getting drunk in a comic book store. All in all it was a great trip, and I can't wait to go back next year! Now we just gotta get overcast's first issue done by then....

Big news! I have been thinking a lot about my future and what I want in life, and have decided that i am not going to find it in Chico. So here is the new plan. Come April (or early May) I am going to be moving up to Washington, somewhere near the Seattle area. This will allow me to not only focus more on working on our comic (since Ann and Chris are up there too so we can have meetings in person again), but will also allow me to properly pursue a dream of mine. I have always wanted to be a voice actor in video games, and it seems like the Seattle area is the best place for that. Plus, I love the weather there, it's near PAX, and it's just a beautiful place. I'll be continuing to work on costumes, and posting here of course, but if any of you live up that way and want to hang out, let me know! Now I just need to decide where exactly I want to live....
(I know that this is not really cosplay related, but what the hell, this is kind of a personal blog for me now anyway, heheh)

So you may have noticed that the forums in general have been pretty quiet these last few weeks. This is the result of a few factors, such as the holiday season, and skyrim. Does this mean that we have stopped working on projects? Ok yeah, it kinda does. But fear not! Work will begin anew with the new year, and regular updates will resume. As for me, I have lately been counting my working out as working on cosplay, since I want to have the nice muscles for my Chris Redfield and Zoro costumes. I'm considering remaking my original One Piece costume, Ennie's Lobby Zoro. What do you think?

Went by the fabric store today, bought some supplies to work on the chris redfield shirt. Ran out of time though and didn't get the zipper. Oh well, next time. I will take some test photos in the next few days to see how it looks, but basically the plan to get the look that I want is to put a layer of white fabric over a layer of dark green fabric, so when the light hits it, it will look dirty white with green undertones. Thats the hope at least....

Ok, I did some shopping! Bought the fabric I need to make the Chris Redfield shirt. Here are some photos! The first is the 4 different colors together. I am also going to use a kind of mesh fabric for the sides, and still need to get a zipper, but other than that it's coming along. Attachments:

So I have seen other people do Chris Redfield's shirt as green, or white, and it never looked right to me. In the game it always seems to be a dirty white with green shadows/highlights, but some of that is from the green filter they used over the entire game, and his shirt is kinda shiny, so any light makes it look white, and it's all frustrating. So I am trying a layering idea. Putting dark green cloth under a transparent white. Here is a reference image: Attachments:
