I realize it's been around for a while and the song itself is mindless pop, but today I saw the video for Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" for the first time and jesus christ, that woman is a secret serial killer. That poor guy is totally going to be made into a man suit. You know he knows it too, I mean the guy is fleeing for his life throughout the video. There is a scene where he is surrounded by pissed off brides in torn gowns menacing him with baseball bats who then proceed to chase him on bikes, which I think could be replaced by the scene with the nurses from Silent Hill and still only be equally as terrifying. Oh god, her face at that part. Run, you poor bastard, run! It's great because you can see him quickly LOSING HIS SANITY as the video comes to an end. Are there zebras in Cthulhu mythos? I feel like there aught to be. I can only assume that the end he is acting his ass off to save his goddam life, but I'm pretty sure she is still going to eat his brains later.

The fact that you have 'don't panic' as your signature after that post is quietly hilarious. Also, as I was logging in to comment on this I had to do a captcha code that made me type in -- I shit you not -- the word OBEY. The horror movie trend in music videos has become much more pronounced of late. Examples include: Skrillex | First of the Year youtu.be/2cXDgFwE13gChromeo | When The Night Falls youtu.be/kkyYxAv6kB4Phantom Planet | Big Brat (takes the theme pretty literally with a making-of and the actual 'horror movie') youtu.be/_qRPcJrqDRcyoutu.be/b3RyBLwQpmsor the all-time classic (SERIOUSLY, YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T WATCH THIS IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP TONIGHT) Aphex Twin | Come To Daddy youtu.be/5Az_7U0-cK0

Great videos, J! But those are all horror themed on purpose, I don't think the Katy Perry one was intentional. I mean it might be, I don't know.
I think the part with the brides was supposed to invoke "angry women, roar!"(which is still scary I guess), not "You startled the Witch(es)!" . She is singing from the vantage point of an understandably upset woman who thinks she's about to get stood up at the altar, yelling at him to make up his damn mind, and the guy is running away from responsibility or making a decision throughout the film. But when I watch it that story quickly falls aside and all I can think is that what she is actually singing about is how much she wants to eat his brains. She's not unreasonable, I mean, no one's gonna eat his eyes.
By all means we should share ones like you found here also because those were all awesome, but I wanted to find more of the kind that are unintentionally horrific.

I had been showing these videos directly to Ann, but in her absence it's time to inflict them on the board. More in the line of the topic from Japan, the country that is the originator of candy-colored pop insanity: Hikaru Utada | Traveling youtu.be/Tfc8w6A-f9UThe singer of Simple & Clean / Hikari (which version you know depends on your Disney geek or inner otaku percentage) is a stewardess on a flying rabbit train full of flower faced passengers. She also appears to inhabit a stop motion world where she is being chased by a giant clockwork beast. I often wonder if taking drugs & watching these videos would cancel each other out. Fuel up on LSD & shrooms, turn on some psychadelic Japanese television and then just have a hallucination about an office drone job or something. Mini Moni | Ai~n! Dance no Uta youtu.be/bTGjjeMQ_cMThis pop group was a junior spin-off from a larger J-pop all-girl army a while back (seriously, consider how big a pop group has to be that they not only have a rotating roster, but SUBGROUPS). Ann did some digging and found that the guy the girls appear with is a comedian who does an over the top feudal lord persona -- his name 'Baka Tono' literally translates to 'Lord Stupid'. This is an overlong explanation for what amounts to four girls and a white-faced clown screaming while making faces in a hell for epileptics. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu | PONPONPON youtu.be/pb3IdLdIc6sThis video is proof that threat of drowning, earthquakes and further nuclear irradiation simply made Japan stronger after this year's hurricane. And that's BEFORE the faceless Madea dancer kicks in with the singing one-eyed skulls on backup. Some accuse this girl of jacking Lady Gaga's style, but I say she's just taking it back. WARNING: DO NOT INGEST A MURDER OF CROWS BEFORE WATCHING 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lp0ldiXop31qaqbepo1_500.gif
