WELCOME BACK TO THE STAGE OF MIXTAPERYBeen a long time, Fictonians! Let's hear what's been moving you in the absence of the 5-Song Mixtape. Post your current favorites -- any era, any genre. Nothing's off limits as long as it's within the rules: 1. FINISH THE MIXTAPE.Five songs, no repeats; meaning don’t just copy-paste the same song 5 times (though I expect there to be some overlap between people’s lists). Remixes, covers, and live / acoustic versions are acceptable as well. 2. PROVIDE LINKS.Let us hear what matters to you! Just a couple minutes of rooting around on Google or YouTube should be enough to provide sources for your list. 3. NO PICKING ON ANYONE'S MUSICAL TASTE.I AM SERIOUS ABOUT THIS YOU GUYS. If you don't dig the selection, move on. 4. STICK TO THE THEME.While I’d like to keep the entries within the bounds of whatever the current category is, if you’re absolutely stuck but still want to contribute and whatever you want is out of bounds Rule #1 comes first. If you include explanations of your choices, all the better! Warm up your music player of choice and let's get back in the groove!

Hoo-rah! I shall post the music I cannot get out of my head, the songs that follow me to work, school, sleep, and everywhere in between these days. Feather by NujabesThis song is just so wonderful! I'm a huge fan of underground hip hop, but the piano sampling just makes it that much classier. Caring is Creepy by The ShinsThe Shins just have a way with indie music~ I can listen to most of their albums on repeat, but I have a few favorite songs, and this one is top of my list. Wayward Bob by BonoboThis isn't so much a new favorite as an old one, forgive me! I've been listening to it at least several times a week for the past year and a half. Get Down by GrievesFor those who aren't fans of trip/hip hop, I apologize, it seems that it comprises most of my list thus far. But, to quote a certain parody, "Damn! These beats are fresh! Sssssssnap!" Turn it Up! by Robots in DisguiseIf you're a fan of annoying female Brit pop songs, then I have some good news for you :] Edit: Thank you J for helping me condense my post ^-^

Thx for getting us started! I'm definitely going to have to check out Bonobo, and I've seen Robots In Disguise on the rise among other people's playlists. FYI if you want to post links, you're going to have to use the funky BBCode buttons in the Add Tags section of Post Reply. Most likely you'll want the link one that looks like a planet & paper -- it spits out something that looks like this (without spaces): [ url = www.linkgoeshere.com ] TEXT GOES HERE [ / url ] Also feel free to double back through previous mixtapes and toss in your particular entries if you're so inclined. ANYWAYAndy Hale | New Beginnings (Part 1)This is one of those songs that makes me wary of accidentally narrating the world around me like I'm a private eye. Rizzle Kicks | Prophet (Better Watch It)"I'm your mistress' mistress // That your wife couldn't put on her Christmas wishlist." Clever lyricists go a long way with me in hip-hop. Asian Kung-Fu Generation | TravelogYears of going to cons have hardwired me for Japanese music as soon as summer starts. Dainumo | Dick, Dick, Dick, DickAnything this guy mixes up usually makes it into my heavy rotation, which is how I ended up with this unfortunately named summer jam. Adam WarRock | Sinister SixThat's right: it's a 10-minute rap with each verse from the perspective of a different Spider-Man villain. I beg you to at least listen from 8:08 onward; it's better than all of Spider-Man 3 (though that's a low bar to set).
