I decided to go ahead and steal Adam's idea of making a cosplay project thread, though to be honest mine probably won't update nearly as much as his, since most of my ideas are still at the planning stage or on the backburner. I'd like to have more time/money to work on things...but wouldn't we all?
Current Projects Planned
- Robo (Chrono Trigger) - Structural design is pretty much worked out. I'm looking around for materials and constructing a shopping list. I might actually start on this soon!! Tentatively planned for PAX 2012.
- Super Mutant/Tabitha/Lily (Fallout Series) - I really want to get into latex masks and make up, and I think this would be a good project for learning. If I can do it right, would be really impressive! This on hold though, until I have the extra money to sink into all of the new tools and materials I'll need for all of the trial and error.
- Steampunk Jabberwocky (Alice in Wonderland) - This is a very new project. Some friends of mine are doing a group of steampunk Alice in Wonderland characters, and I thought it would be really fun to come up with my own idea. Right now this costume is still in the designing stage. It's not as complicated as the other costumes I have planned, since it's just basically a gown and some accessories.
- Monster Chopper 3.0 (One Piece) - I love this guy. There are a few last things I need to improve on before I'm completely happy with him, though. I want to completely redo his antlers, spruce up his shoulder fluff, and fix the way the material hangs on the torso. Also, I want to play with his eyes to see if I can make them a bit better. The biggest problem I'm having right now is figuring out what to make the antlers out of that won't weigh 50 lbs or fall apart.
Maybe Projects
- Ghoul (Fallout Series) - I really want to make a zombie-esque costume, but I don't really want to make one for myself. If I ever manage to make a Super Mutant costume, I might pin someone down to be a ghoul.
- Major Iceborg (The Fifth Element) - If we ever do a big group Fifth Element cosplay, I'd rock this costume. Just saying. Fairly simple, so the first step is to make a shopping list of what I'll need to get.
Past Projects
- Monster Chopper 2.0 (One Piece) - He's big, he's mean. God, I love walking around in this thing.
- Thousand Sunny (One Piece) - I think this the the costume design I'm most proud of to this day, even though the costume wasn't made for me.
Like Adam, I'm going to post stuff as I work. To start there will just be a lot of design sketches, and I probably won't be making much progress on the actual costume building for a while. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please post away! I love feedback.
