EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW.
And then come straight here so I can spazz out, criticize and generally do lot's of blah blah blah about this movie with you guys!
I'll give a review tomorrow because right now it's 2:30 and I have to be at work in 4 hours (~o A o)~ and I'm tired.
HUZZAH!
*Edit* Review: Directing: 10 Editing: 9.5 Concept: 10 Script: 9.5 Soundtrack: 9.5
Okay, I just got back from seeing it a second time and actually enjoyed it more than the first. There is so much to process in this film I couldn't catch it all in the first run. Written and directed by Nolan, he doesn't disappoint and gives you an ending your not soon to forget. The only drawback for me was a few of the themes I'd seen before and recently, and the chase scenes could have been shorter. But that's just me. Other than that this was a near perfect picture.
Now for the fun part: I want to hear theories on the ending. Here's mine:[[I believe Cobb was still dreaming because his children 1.) hadn't aged and I was given to the impression he had been trying to get home for some time 2.) they were wearing the same clothes as in his memories. Hmmm. I also have a question: Why, when Cobb found Saito, was Saito aged but Cobb wasn't? <.<]] Highlight between the brackets to see spoilers.

It's been really interesting reading other people's opinions and analyses of the movie. Funnily enough, so many things have mentioned spoilers but I don't think I came across anything that adequately prepared me for what the movie was doing.
Christopher Nolan is our Nerd Alfred Hitchcock.

Haven't seen it yet, but some of my friends told me it came across the lines of the anime "Paprika". Wondering if that's close, and if I should see it.

@admire777: Yes it does share some themes with Paprika in that both movies revolve around characters using a device to dive into the dreams of others. I highly recommend Inception, it's definitely worth the ticket price :3

This was a great movie. might be the best movie of the summer. I can't think of any more movie coming out this summer that can compete. Scott Pilgrim maybe but those two movies are so different that they shouldn't be compared

ONE MORE THING. To those interested, there's been a number of great discussions and interpretations of the film collected here [SPOILERS AHOY]. My favorites were probably CHUD's analysis (comparing all the characters in the plot to various roles in moviemaking) and this one that assigns them all psychological terms. [EDIT: Links fixed.]

I just saw Inception this afternoon. I must say, it was the most interesting films I have seen in a long time, and i can't wait to see it again. Perhaps we should start a spoiler thread so that we can discuss it openly?

Curses, have all the links I've been posting just been leading to blank pages? That's irritating. Anyway, maybe a new thread would be for the best since I can't seem to figure out how to do invisible text on this bloody thing either ^_^;; [EDIT: WAIT I GOT IT. Thank you, BBcode FAQ! Anyway, here's a reprint of a long workup of some of my own theories: I believe I can offer you something concrete as to the disparate ages between Saito & Cobb in the lowest level. Saito died in the snow fortress, and so had sunk into Limbo ahead of Cobb. With the time dilation between the different levels, he had been down there for a very long time before the instant that Cobb washed up on the beach (although Cobb himself had aged somewhat just by being there).
Most people seem to agree that Cobb is still dreaming when he arrives home, despite the children's ages -- in fact if you check the credits there's listings for the children at different ages. Also I still need to confirm the following with a second viewing, but apparently as the credits come up, the sound of the top falling can be heard.
Here's my thing: the top doesn't dictate whether Cobb is in a dream or not, it dictates whether or not he accepts the dream as reality. Remember that technically the top was Mol's totem in the first place and Cobb stole it; therefore it's an unreliable guide (one of Nolan's favorite themes, like in Memento). Now, my question to those who've seen the movie: ...was there any significance between Ariadne, Cobb's kids, and Mol being the only ones who wore red in the movie? I keep thinking back to that whole 'lady in the red dress' gag from the Matrix...

My hidden thoughts:
To me there is a huge disparity between the way the top behaves when he is still dreaming, and the way it behaves at the end. When he is in the dream it stays unnaturally vertical, but in the conclusion it gets very wobbly (though this may be a visual interpretation of the dreams themselves becoming less stable).
To counter my own argument (I would have to watch it again to be sure), I seem to remember the house (including the table setting) at the conclusion of the film to be identical to how it was shown earlier, though this may be a simple re-use of the set as opposed to trying to hide a message. Are the children dressed the same in the conclusion? It does seem a bit odd that they are doing exactly the same thing in exactly the same positions as they were in his dream.
Here is an idea, what is Cobb is still in Yusuf's (the chemist's) little opium den tripping out on the first dose he was given for the whole movie? This idea doesn't work for me as much though as we can see what everyone else is doing throughout the process, lending validity to the idea that they are actively doing what they think they are doing.
Man, interpreting movies like this is really fun!

Here's an interesting [yet spoilery] diagram concerning Inception's plot, though I disagree about one particular element [highlight to see]: I was certain that the mountain was Fischer's dream, not Eames'.

Oh, man. I just saw it today!
Mind. Blown.
I can't make up my mind about the ending though!
